Quitting Weed: The Basics ššØ
How to start your quitting weed journey...
This is...
THE FOUR STEPS TO SUCCESS!
Today I am going to be giving you the best advice and the perfect 4 steps on how to begin your quitting weed journey! ššØ
Before we get into itā¦ THANK YOU AGAIN FOR SUBSCRIBING!!! I am beyond grateful to have an outlet where I can share all of my knowledge on health and wellness with you all so we can all live long fulfilling lives together. š Not every week will be about weed but I got my footing on TikTok from my quitting weed videos so it only felt right to start hereā¦ ENJOY!!
STEP ONE:
The first and most crucial step is to throw everything OUT.
Itās going to sting a little thinking about the money lost but frame it into a more positive mindset by looking at it like a fresh start or closing a chapter.
It is going to be extremely difficult to quit knowing you still have weed in your house so getting rid of it will ensure you wonāt say ājust one hit wonāt hurtā when youāre having a lazy day. Cold turkey quitting is the way to fully commit to changing your life so just do it!
STEP TWO:
You need to analyze your goals.
Why do you want to quit? What do you hate about your relationship with weed? Does it hold you back from your potential? What do you think you can accomplish once you quit?
The best tip: Write out a pros and cons list of all the ways your relationship with weed positively and negatively affects you. Now write out all of the cons on separate post-it notes and stick them to your mirror, wall, bedroom door, etc. By doing this, you will be reminded every day you look in that mirror or at that wall of all of the negative effects weed had on your daily life and how much better life will be without it. This tip kept me from falling back into old habits so many times.
Some of my post-its cons were: always tired, brain fog, munchies led to overeating, no motivation, lack of energy, bad lung health, paranoia, social anxiety, poor memory, lack of appetite when sober, etc.
Tip #2: Create a cool graphic on Canva of all of your goals that you want to accomplish after you quit weed and make it your lock screen!
Some of my goals were: to join a new gym with my newfound energy, challenge my social anxiety, read more to work my brain, and spend more time outside and in public.
STEP THREE:
Get the withdrawal essentials ready!
I personally had many withdrawal symptoms like cold sweats, lack of appetite, lack of sleep, irritability, muscle and joint pain, boredom, and so on.
Some essentials:
Lack of Sleep: melatonin or sleepy time tea (tea worked the best for me!)
Lack of Appetite: eat simple carbs like crackers, bread, and pretzels, to help get some food in + protein shakes will be your best friend for the next week or so.
Boredom: you will get very very bored because the time you spent high is now feeling like emptiness (your brain forgets what itās like to be sober!) I recommend picking up all and any hobbies! I began puzzling, drawing, journaling, painting, thrifting, walking, etc. Anything to keep your mind occupied!
Muscle and Joint Pain: walking, swimming, running, and staying active in general will help. I also used a topical CBD cream to relieve pain which was a lifesaver!
Cold Sweats: drink lots of water and exercise regularly to sweat out all of that THC!
STEP FOUR:
Donāt be so hard on yourself!
Give yourself grace during these next two weeks. Itās not going to be easy by any means but being able to acknowledge and accept that will get you far in this process. Some days will be better than others but ultimately you are a human being, allow yourself to feel all the feels!
If you have to take more self-care days or call out of work thatās totally fine and you deserve the rest! Push through the pain and lack of sleep, I promise itāll be worth it. The key here is fully trusting the process and believing in yourself.
These four steps will help you get on the right track to starting your quitting weed journey! I had many withdrawal effects for about 14 days and didnāt get my full appetite back until day 11 but I promise, the light at the end of the tunnel is there and itās shining SO bright! Donāt give up on yourself and your goals, changing your life starts with YOU.
Health Fact of the Day:
The typical *avid weed userās brain receptors can return back to normal as early as 4 weeks after quitting marijuana use!
